MS Office 2010
Amended 01 June 2010
Interested in MS office 2010 as demonstrated at tonight's general meet? Put off by the astronomical software prices imposed in Australia? There is another way if you have a reasonably fast Internet connection and are not restricted by a measly download quota.
Go to this site located in Texas USA
http://downloadoem.us/
Yes you do have to download a hefty install file but.......you can get, e.g. Office 2010 Professional for US$119. There is a handling charge of a few $ and an overseas transaction fee charged by your bank but look at the saving.
The site was used to obtain Dreamweaver CS4 and is considered safe.
Thunderbird 3
Amended 05 July 2010
If you upgrade Thunderbird to version 3.1, and the Australian English Dictionary was used in the previous version, it will no longer work. Mozilla's web site for Thunderbird add on's still contains the older dictionary version. The workaround is go to
http://russtaylor.co.uk/2009/12/british-english-dictionary-for-thunderbird-3/
and download this British English version.
